Servants of the Lord and of the Virgin of Matará

Foundation

On March 19, 1988, Feast of St. Joseph, Father Carlos Miguel Buela founded the Institute: Servants of the Lord and of the Virgin of Matará (SSVM), the female branch of the Religious Family of the Incarnate Word.

Purpose

The founder’s purpose was the “desire of giving Jesus Christ Spouses according to His Heart”, and the occasion came when some girls expressed their will to consecrate to God, living the spirituality of the IVE. As St. John Paul II wrote in his letter Mulieris Dignitatem about the dignity of women: “The woman, called from the beginning to love and be loved, finds Christ above everything in her virginal vocation, as the Redeemer who loved until the end through the total gift of Himself, and she answers with the sincere gift of herself”.

Name

The sisters take their name from the Cross of Matará, a wooden cross made by an indigenous tribe in Argentina. This cross also became their symbol and part of their habit to remind that “we want to know nothing but Jesus Christ and him crucified” (1 Cor 2:2). On this cross, there is an engraving of Our Crucified Lord Jesus Christ. At the foot of the cross, there is the first Servant of the Lord: the Holy Virgin Mary. This recalls not only the reason why the Institute exists, but also the place, the function and the mission of the “Servants”, who must follow the example of the Virgin. In this manner, the female branch of our Religious Family accomplishes what we desired in giving the masculine branch the name of the Incarnate Word.

Apostolate

As for their apostolate, they help the fathers by teaching catechism and organizing oratories (youth groups), taking part in the popular missions, in the works of mercy (taking care of abandoned children, handicapped and sick). Some discern their vocation to live a contemplative life and so are sent to our female monasteries to dedicate their lives to prayer, penitence and contemplation.

التأسيس

في 19 من آذار عام 1988 عيد القديس يوسف، اسس الاب ميغيل كارلوس بويلا رهبنة: خادمات الرب وعذراء ماتارا، فرع الاناث من العائلة الرهبانية للكلمة المتجسد.

الهدف

هدف المؤسس هو “الرغبة في ان يعطي يسوع المسيح عرائس وفقاً قلبه”، وجاءت هذه المناسبة عندما أعربت بعض الفتيات إرادتهن بتكريس نفوسهن لله، بحسب روحانية رهبنة الكلمة المتجسد. كما كتب القديس يوحنا بولس الثاني في رسالته Mulieris Dignitatem عن كرامة المرأة: “إن المرأة، دُعيت منذ البدء إلى ان تُحب وتُحَب، تجد المسيح فوق كل شيء في دعوتها العُذرية، كما أحب الفادي حتى النهاية من خلال هبه نفسه بالكامل، وهي تُجيب بهبة نفسها بصدق”.

أصل التسمية

اخذت الراهبات اسمهن من صليب ماتارا، صليب خشبي صنعه أحد السكان الاصليين في الارجنتين. وهذا الصليب أصبح اشارتهن وجزء من ثوبهم الرهباني ليتذكروا ان “لا نريد ان نعرف شيء غير المسيح والمسيح المصلوب” (1كورنثوس 2:2).

على هذا الصليب نقش لربنا يسوع المسيح. عندما قدم الصليب يوجد اول خادمة للرب وهي مريم العذراء السامية القداسة. وهذا يُشير ليس فقط الى سبب وجود الرهبنة، بل ايضا المكان، المهمة ورسالة “الخادمات”، اللواتي يجب ان يتبعن مثل العذراء مريم وبهذه الطريقة، فرع الإناث من عائلتنا الرهبانية يُحقق ما كنا نرغب في إعطاء اسم كلمة المتجسد لفرع الذكور.
